Chapter 9~ Off We Go

“Why didn’t you scream?” he said as soon as he stopped bending.

She looked up at him, and took his arm off of her, before she said, “They didn’t attack me while I was running, so obviously they’re not important soldiers-“

“Of course not, they were in Chi Zhung,” he remarked.

“-which means they were just tracking us to see where we were headed. If I screamed ‘Bend, you idiot!’ they would have had to attack to stop us from disappearing.”

“Ah,” he said lightly, sitting down and ruffling his hair so that it was messier than before.

“You didn’t tell me you were that good at bending,” she said ruefully as she sat opposite him.

“You didn’t ask,” he shrugged. “And you think I’m good?”

“Good enough to get by,” she said quickly, though he didn’t notice.

“Hm,” he cocked his head. “I’ve been bending before I could walk.”

“So,” she said, her frown reappearing. “We got spotted.”

“And, we didn’t get sufficient food,” Kyshin added. She rolled her eyes.

“So where are we gonna go?” she shook her head with frustration. “At this rate, we might as well be caught.”

“You could break us out though, right?”

“Probably, but we’d just be going in a never-ending cycle,” she explained. “So we need a sufficient hiding place.”

“What do you usually do when you’re breaking people out? Don’t you eat?”

She stretched her legs and said in an off-hand tone, “Usually I just move from place to place, and I never go into a town to eat; I just eat berries and water.”

Kyshin’s face started twitching, so she moved on quickly. “So where do you want to go?”

“Where ever the wind takes us,” he grinned.

“Fine,” she sneered. “We’re heading west.”

“You want to take us closer to the capital?” he said incredulously.

“Better than never moving again,” she spat, as she started to walk again.

“Jeez, don’t get mad, Seiya,” he sprang up and began walking again with her. “Off we go!”
